DESIGN SYSTEMS · SOUTH AFRICA
Consistency, built to grow.
Prism Studio creates design systems for organisations in South Africa: design tokens, component libraries and usage documentation. Shared foundations, reusable components and practical guidance for digital teams.
Discuss a design systemTHE APPROACH
A shared language for your digital work.
A useful design system connects design decisions with everyday delivery. We create foundations and components with guidance that helps teams apply them consistently.
Some client design-system engagements are confidential. The EGIT design system is shown here as a client example; Ethos is our internal studio project.

WHAT’S INCLUDED
Foundations, components and guidance.
Audit
We review what already exists across your website and products: colours, type, components and the inconsistencies between them.
Design tokens
Colour, typography, spacing and other decisions defined once as tokens, ready to use in design files and in code.
Component library
Reusable, accessible components such as buttons, forms, cards and navigation, with each state documented.
Documentation
Clear usage guidance and page templates, so designers, developers and content teams apply the system the same way.
WHERE WE START
A few useful questions.
Which products and teams will use the system?
What already exists, and what needs aligning?
How will the system be maintained?
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Common questions.
What is a design system?
A shared set of design decisions, reusable components and guidance that teams use to build consistent websites and products. It replaces one-off decisions with agreed standards.
Is a design system only for large companies?
No. Any organisation with more than one website, product or team designing for it benefits from shared standards. A system can start small and grow with you.
Can you build a design system from our existing brand?
Yes. We usually start from what you already have. For EGIT, we audited the live website and built the system on its existing identity.
Who maintains the system after handover?
We document how the system is organised and how to add to it, so your team can maintain it. We can also support the system as it evolves.
